The Kawasaki Ki-61 Hien is a Japanese World War II fighter aircraft used by the Imperial Japanese Army Air Service. The Japanese Army designation was 'Army Type 3 Fighter'. Allied pilots initially believed Ki-61s were Messerschmitt Bf 109s and later an Italian aircraft, which led to the Allied reporting name of 'Tony', assigned by the United States War Department. It was the only mass-produced Japanese fighter of the war to use a liquid-cooled inline V engine. Id variant, which featured an elongated nose section to incorporate its two built-in Ho-5 20mm cannons. Kit features engraved panel lines with rivets, detailed cockpit and fuselage with optional pilot figure, optional transparent fuselage, transparent landing light, single piece propeller with separate spinner, detailed (engine and supercharger, radiator/oil cooler, air intake), optional engine door and Venturi tube, canopy brace, optional canopy, Ho-5 20mm cannons and ammo cases, Ho-103 12.7mm machine gun, (x2) drop tanks and mounts, detailed wheel wells and optional undercarriage.
