P-38J Lightning - MFNC09097 - Mastercraft Models
Length: 8.7 inches
Wingspan: 12 inches
The Lightning P-38 is a WWII fighter aircraft built in 1940s by Lockheed-Martin. It earned different nicknames like fork-tailed devil by the Germans and two planes, one pilot by the Japanese during the World War II. The Lockheed Lightning P38 was outfitted with twin booms, with its tail horizontally fused at the back. With its three-bladed propellers on either side of the cockpit, the P38 Lockheed was quieter than the other fighter planes. This aircraft saw its first action in service after the Pearl Harbor Attack, but it was also used for reconnaissance missions by the United States Army Air Forces. The P38 Lockheed Lightning was successfully used in the Pacific theater where long hours of high altitude action were needed. It was credited for being able to destroy the most number of Japanese airplanes during WWII.
This handcrafted model is painted in the same paint scheme as the original and is painstakingly built from Philippine mahogany by our skilled craftsmen. Perfect as a gift for any aviation enthusiast and history buff!
