1/72 Scale Mitsubishi Ki-46 II "Dinah." Airfix. Powered by two 14-cylinder, supercharged, aircooled, two-row radial Ha-102 Zuisei engines, the Japanese World War II two-seater reconaissance Ki-46 II aircraft was nearly immune from interception by Allied aircraft. The type began showing up in Japanese air units in July 1941, first assigned to the Japanese Army in Manchukuo and China and to the Imperial Japanese Navy operating north of Australia and New Guinea. It also flew in the skies over Malaya in the months before the outbreak of the War in the Pacific, and it also undertook reconnaissance missions over Burma, Indochina, Thailand, and the Indian Ocean. Designed by a team headed by engineer Tomio Kubo - who during the 1970s was Chairman of the Board of Mitsubishi Motors - the Ki-46 was one of the cleanest and most efficient piston-engine aircraft ever built. Decals and painting guide for two aircraft: 81st Hiko Sentai (Air Regiment), 1st Chutai Imperial Japanese Army Air Force, Malaya, 1942 and 6th Dokuritsu Hiko Chutai (Independent Air Squadron), Air Defence of Japan, Osaka, 1944.
