1/72 Scale Focke Wulf Fw 190A-8 and Hawker Typhoon IB Dogfight Doubles Gift Set. Airfix. The Focke-Wulf Fw 190 Würger (Shrike) was a German single-seat, single-engine fighter aircraft designed by Kurt Tank in the late 1930s and widely used during World War II. The Hawker Typhoon (Tiffy in RAF slang), was a British single-seat fighter-bomber, produced by Hawker Aircraft. Its service introduction to the British Royal Air Force (RAF) in mid-1941 was plagued with problems, and for several months the aircraft faced a doubtful future. However, when the Luftwaffe brought the formidable Focke-Wulf Fw 190 into service in 1941 the Typhoon was the only RAF fighter capable of catching it at low altitudes. As a result the Typhoon secured a new role as a low-altitude interceptor. Duel kit includes Humbrol supplies: two (2) paintbrushes (No 0 and 4), (1) Poly Cement (5ml tube), eight (8) acrylic paints (in plastic pots) and display stand. Decals and painting reference for (1) ea: Fw 190A-8 -  Aircraft flown by Oberstleutnant Josef "Pips" Priller, Jagdgeschwader 26, Lille-Nord, France, June 1944 and Hawker Typhoon IB - Aircraft flown by Squadron Leader Basil Gerald "Stapme" Stapleton DFC, No.247 ("China-British") Squadron, No.124 Wing, 2nd Tactical Air Force, Royal Air Force, June 1944.
