Overview

AFV kit in 1/350 scale of the Imperial Japanese Navy's I-19, a World War II first-class, aircraft-carrying B1 type submarine. Throughout  1942 and most of 1943 the I-19 wreaked havoc with the U.S. fleet in the Pacific. One of the I-19's E-14Y "Glen" float planes flew over Pearl Harbor on the night of 23 February 1942. During the Battle of Guadalcanal, the I-19 sank the USS Wasp and destroyer O'Brian, and heavily damaged the USS North Carolina. Stationed off Fiji Island in mid-1943 the I-19 preyed on Allied supply ships, on one occasion surfacing to machine gun survivors in life boats. The I-19's career came to an end on 25 November 1943, when it was spotted and sunk by the U.S. destroyer Radford west of Makin Island. This kit has optional full or waterline hull, upper pressure hull, detailed conning tower with fully equipped bridge and separate hangar door, seaplane launch rail, well detailed clear-molded Yokosuka E14Y "Glen" floatplane, six torpedoes, a display stand and photoetch parts (railings, seaplane details, catapult plating, crane booms and additional fine details). Completed model is approximately 12.2" long. The kit includes a painting guide and decals for the sub and aircraft.
