1/144 scale. Antonov An-30B Aerial Cartography Aircraft. Eastern Express. Introduced into Soviet service in the summer of 1968, the turboprop An-30B has a crew of seven. Nicknamed "Nasten'ka" or "Nastya" by the Russians, the plane received the NATO designation "Clank" during the Cold War. In 1982, during the era of Soviet military involvement in Afghanistan, An-30 aircraft completely mapped that country. In the course of the Soviet involvement in the country, one An-30 was downed by Islamist insurgents armed with a MANPAD in March 1985. The USSR exported the An-30 to Afghanistan, Bulgaria, China, Cuba, Czechoslovakia, Mongolia, and Vietnam, and Cuba employed the aircraft in Angola in 1987.
